tongue-numbing excitement

check out this bit of supreme weirdness.

so whenever i eat celery, it makes my tongue numb. i always kinda figured maybe i was just having a reaction to the pesticide residues on it, or that maybe celery has a chemical in it that causes a numbing sensation. i've mentioned this to people and i've never encountered anyone who shares my celery-induced discomfort.

so today i'm eating some celery and i think, hey, why don't i google "celery makes my tongue numb". because my life is so exciting that i manage to fit stimulating things like this into my day to day activities. to my surprise, i discover a whole community of people who share numb tongues like mine! who woulda thought? and apparently in europe, celery allergies are more common than peanut allergies. so it turns out i'm not alone. phew, i was really worried there.
